Last night a very sad tragedy struck our family. One of our new
little kittens accidentally got crushed. It happened at bedtime. One
of the children (I won't name names) was complaining about going to
bed. As this child fell to the floor in protest, we suddenly realized
the kitten had been crushed in the process. The kitten hardly moved
or made noise, but amazingly survived the night.
This morning I took it to the vet. When the vet first asked me what
it's name was, I realized we hadn't even named it yet. So I called it
"Little Friend." The kitten had suffered massive head and chest
trauma, one eye was damaged, and the other eye's pupil was fixed and
dilated. It was having a lot of trouble breathing. There was no way
for it to survive, so I gave consent for the vet to put it down.
All of the kids were completely devastated last night, and as we
commenced with bedtime business tonight, it reminded the kids again
of the tragedy. April is especially sad about it, and she keeps
saying she wishes the Second Coming was tomorrow, so the kitten could
be resurrected. Ah, what sweet faith! Tonight I told her that one of
the most difficult lessons to learn in life is waiting in faith, and
we talked about what being faithful means. I think she understands,
and I told she can always pray when she's sad, and the Holy Ghost
will help her feel better.

Oh, I'm so sorry! That's so sad. Kitties are so fragile. I hope the kids aren't too torn up about it.
ReplyDeleteAnd accidents do happen. I will pray for the kids. Love, Gramma Mary
