I am making a YW values quilt for a Personal Progress project. It will be a wall hanging for our YW room at church, so each girl can learn the value colors easier. And here is my first block for the value Faith. It is a 6" paper pieced block (my first time paper piecing too.) Since it's basically a white-on-white block, I tried to give it some glitz to break up the white. I used a white cotton w/silver glitter for the background, and I blanket-stitched around the star with silver lame thread.
Paper piecing isn't as hard as I thought it would be, but it takes a while to get everything ready- tracing the pattern onto tissue paper PERFECTLY, and then getting the fabric pieces placed just right so they lay correctly after you stitch it. I'll have to find some more tutorials for paper piecing to find ways to make it a little easier.
Jean, that is wonderful. I've never done paper-piecing. Your choice of white fabrics and thread is super and I love your thought process on this YW project.

looks good. you can also paper piece w/normal printer paper (just print the patterns out) and there's special tear-away paper for printers too.
