Today is April's first day of school. Yes, school starts really early here in South Texas, but hopefully the state legislature has fixed that problem for good. Starting next year, school shouldn't start before August 28th, and there will be NO exceptions. Good for the kids, but now I'm wondering what to do with two more weeks of summer vacation.
April was SO SO excited to start school today. Her bus comes to the corner at 7:08am, and she was pacing the living room at 6:40am, "Is it time to go yet? We're going to be late!" We're still trying to teach her how to tell time. Last year I took a picture of the clock at 7:00 and taped it to the wall with a message, "Time to go to the bus stop." So she knows if the clock looks like the picture, it's time to leave. But today she was just too anxious.
April laid all her clothes out in a line on her bedroom floor last night. It was so funny. I asked her, "Are you going to lay down and wiggle into your clothes?" She put her new rainbow alarm clock on the shelf by her bed and turned it on. There was so much excitement in the air, it felt like Christmas Eve.
How did April's first week of school go?
