Tonight I took a little time to enjoy the reason I stay home every day — my children. April is at a birthday sleepover tonight, so it's just the babies here. Stephen rolled all over the living room, chewing on his spit rag and drooling, making noises just for his own amusement (although it amused the rest of us at the same time.) Emily had a bath, and then jumped on my back repeatedly as I laid on my tummy on the floor talking to Stephen. He has the biggest eyes, and some of the young kids at church like to have staring contests with him. They think it's a riot, but he just keeps on staring 'cause that's just what he does. Dan hooked up some newly acquired speakers to our computer while I danced around with Stephen in the playroom, listening to country music coming through the new setup. Emily just does her own thing, looking at books and pretending to read to herself, playing with toys, running around. It was so fun to just be with them and enjoy them.
I tell myself everyday that I didn't quit my career and stay home to keep the house clean. I stayed home to raise these children in the ways of the Lord, and show them how to be smart, responsible, creative, kind, and fun-loving people. And the best way to teach is by example.
